Zombieland: Double Tap
Seen 11/12/19
Here we are 10 years after the first zombie land movie originally came out. I have been hesitate on seeing this movie because I feel like there is a short time window for a sequel to a movie to come out. If a movie doesn't have a sequel within a couple of years there probably just shouldn't be one. However I enjoy the first movie enough that I finally decided to see this one when I had some free time.
Honestly this is one of the harder movies to write about.
The cast does a great job of playing the roles they originally had 10 years ago. It feels like the same exact characters with maybe the exception of Abigail Breslen's character who had the most growing up to do. The movie adds a little depth to each of these characters and it helps make the movie fun.
The jokes for the most part work fine. It sometimes felt however that they were too self aware of how long it took to make this sequel. There would be jokes sprinkled in through out the movie like "wow that saying is so 2009" and those kind of jokes got old too fast.
The story was just also just fine. Nothing terrible however it was just kind of pointless. It didn't feel like a strong enough story to warrant a sequel. There was nothing really new or important to dig back in this well for.
By the end I was just feeling very "meh" about the movie. Didn't regret seeing it but wasn't super excited about it either. I think most people will feel the same. You'll laugh at parts but probably won't be racing back in the theaters to see it again.
