The Peanut Butter Falcon

I had not heard of The Peanut Butter Falcon until I first saw a trailer for it before I watched Yesterday. This trailer hooked me. Behind Spider-Man: Far From Home this was my 2nd most anticipated movie of the summer.
This movie had so many great things going for it. I thoroughly enjoyed every moment of it.
The cast all did a fantastic job. The chemistry they all had together makes their friendships and bonds so believable. I think the main actor, Zack Gottsagen, did such a great job. The heart he has for the art was evident.
On thing that caught my attention was the way this movie looked. It was shot beautifully. I remember just sitting in the theater seeing some of these shots and being in awe of the look of the landscapes and some of the contrasts in the shots. This isn't something I always look for in a movie but when I see it done well, I really appreciate it.
One big thing I took away from this movie was the message behind it. Quick fun fact, the directors of the movie had met the aforementioned actor, who truly has a disability, and when they heard his dream of being a movie star they wrote this movie specifically for him so he could be the star of his own movie. The movie seems to be making the point of how "normal" people should be giving those who are developmentally disabled the chances and choices they want to live their lives as independent as they would like. I think it is also making the point that even when we (the "normal" people) think we are doing what is best for the DD person, we limit their independence by making the choices for them, even when we have their best interest at heart. This message seems to be clear through the dialogue of the movie and even in how the creation of this movie came to be. Now I could be reading too much in to this meaning because of my personal experience working in the field with the developmentally disabled population. But that's what I got out of it.
There was one thing I didn't so much care for and that was the ending. It has this very indie kind of ending where it just seems to end abruptly. But the rest of the story is tied up nicely so it still works.
Overall I would recommend this movie to anyone. I had a great time with this one. So much to enjoy here. I don't think you will regret watching this one.
